Plastic optical components
Design and manufacture of plastic optical components for diversified applications.
OPTO5 is a company specialized in the design and production of a wide range of optical components, including plastic. The main components include spherical and aspherical lenses, prisms, light guides and filters, all designed to ensure superior optical performance in various applications.
The materials used to manufacture these components include PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and PC (polycarbonate), which can be supplied in colorless or pigmented versions. Examples of these include IR (infrared) filters, which are ideal for controlling the transmission in a specific wavelength range.
The main optical solutions offered include:
- Integrated sensor optics: components that combine lens, filter, prism and mechanical support into a single part.
- Power LED optics, which are designed to maximize the efficiency and shape the distribution of the light emitted by high-power LEDs.
- Aspherical lenses for image sensors, which correct optical aberrations to ensure a more accurate and sharp image rendering.
- Spherical and aspherical light concentrators.
High-quality glass optical components
At OPTO5, we specialize in the production of superior quality glass optical components. These components are manufactured using a wide range of glass from leading manufacturers such as Schott, Ohara and CDGM. In addition, we offer the option of applying single layer or multilayer dielectric coatings, such as anti-reflective coatings (AR) or high efficiency reflective coatings, with customized specifications.
The production of glass optical lenses includes a range of types, each with distinct design characteristics tailored for specific applications.
- Planoconvex lenses: characterized by a flat and a convex surface, they represent the simplest optical system for focusing light.
- Biconvex lenses: with both surfaces convex, they are typically used to concentrate light.
- Planoconcave lenses: with a flat and a concave surface, they are the simplest optical system to make light diverge
- Biconcave lenses: with both concave surfaces, necessary for wide light divergence
- Positive or negative meniscus lenses: with a concave and a convex surface, these are generally used as elements of more complex optical systems
- Achromatic doublets: composed of two lenses made of different optical glasses, glued together, designed to reduce chromatic and spherical aberration
Each prism has a specific function in light deflection and includes the following:
- Right Angle Prisms: used for 90° light deviation, with applications in microscopy and visual systems.
- Dove prisms: used to rotate or reflect the image in vision systems.
- Roof prisms: used to flip the image without altering the orientation, in telescopes and vision systems.
- Pentaprism: used to deflect a 90° beam regardless of the angle of incidence, making them ideal for imaging equipment.
- Rhomboidal prisms: used to shift a light beam without altering the orientation of the image in stereoscopic systems
- Wedge prisms: designed to minimize angular deviations in laser applications
- Cornercube prisms: engineered to retroreflect light, these are used in measurement systems, such as tachymeters, theodolites, rangefinders and safety devices
- Beamsplitter prisms: designed to separate a beam of light in multiple directions according to the criteria of polarization, wavelength range and amplitude. These are used in devices such as collimators, interferometers, laser scanners markers and spectral cameras for machine vision and sorting machines
Opto5 is a manufacturer of high-quality optical mirrors. These include:
- First and second surface mirrors with high flatness: used to reflect light in optical devices
- Spherical mirrors: designed to focus light, with applications in telescopes and light concentrators.
- Dielectric mirrors for power lasers: multilayer dielectric mirrors for high power and short pulse laser applications, designed to optimize the reflectance performances in specific wavelength ranges, incidence angle and polarization orientation.
At Opto5, we specialize in the production of colored and dielectric filters. These optical filters are designed for use with C-mount and CS-mount lenses, as well as other standard lens types.
Our range of optical glass filters includes the following types:
- Colored glass filters: available in different shapes and colors, these filters are used to transmit or absorb large spectral ranges for machine vision applications, UV or IR rejection, NIR vision systems.
- Dielectric filters: these optical filters are designed to select sharply defined wavelength ranges. They are widely used in advanced machine vision systems and in material handling applications
- Narrowband interference filters: designed to select narrow wavelength ranges inside the UV, VIS and NIR spectral regions. These filters are used in scientific and imaging applications, sorting machines and medical devices.
These filters can also be assembled on standard M25.5x0.5, M27.0x0.5 e M30.5x0.5 rings. This makes them compatible with a wide range of C-Mount and CS_Mount lenses for industrial cameras and machine vision systems.
Opto5’s C-Mount and CS-Mount lens filters are engineered to enhance the performance of industrial cameras and machine vision systems in a range of applications, including industrial manufacturing, process monitoring and scientific research.
In addition to their compatibility with a broad spectrum of lenses, these filters undergo rigorous testing to ensure durability, stability and resistance in demanding working environments, while maintaining peak performance under extreme conditions.
The comprehensive range of optical filters for C-Mount and CS-Mount lenses offered by Opto5 includes solutions divided into different categories based on the specific needs of light absorption and reflection:
- Absorptive UV filters and UV cut filters: These filters are designed to absorb or block unwanted ultraviolet (UV) radiation, protecting sensitive components of the camera or optical system and improving image quality
- VIS cut filters: These filters are used to block lower wavelengths and allow higher wavelengths to pass through the visible range. These filters are used in the NIR band SWIR machine vision applications.
- Absorptive IR Filters and IR cut filters. These filters are designed to absorb or block infrared (IR) light, preventing IR radiation to alter the color rendering of the image sensors.
- Band Pass Absorptive and Reflection filters in Visible: These filters allow a specific band of wavelengths to pass through the visible, blocking other wavelengths through both the absorption and reflection mechanisms, thus optimizing contrast and image quality.
- Absorptive and Reflection IR filters: They are designed to combine these two functions, thereby ensuring optimal rejection of infrared light. These filters are ideal for harsh industrial environments such as metal foundries and high temperature process control.
